Automated Agricultural Scraper Systems in Wales
Emyr Jones Engineering Ltd supplies and installs hydraulic ratchet scraper systems for dairy farms and milking parlours across Wales.
These automated slurry handling systems are supplied in partnership with Dairy Power Equipment of Ireland , providing farmers with a practical, low-maintenance solution for keeping passageways cleaner and improving day-to-day slurry management.
Main Benefits of Automated Scraper Systems
Safe Operation & Simple Controls
The system operates using a low-noise hydraulic power unit connected to a hydraulic cylinder for each passage. One power unit can operate up to six passages.
The hydraulic cylinder connects to a rail or track which moves backwards and forwards, advancing the scraper in controlled steps along the passageway.
Because the scraper travels at low speed and pauses during the return stroke of the cylinder, livestock have time to move away or step over it, helping reduce stress and improve safety within the building.
The system is operated using a simple control box. Each scraper has its own timer and switch and can be programmed to operate individually or as part of a complete sequence.
A monitoring sensor checks the movement of the hydraulic rams across the system. If an animal becomes immobilised in front of a scraper, the affected scraper can automatically stop without preventing the remaining scrapers from operating.
Scrapers can also be programmed to park in a position chosen by the farmer, allowing the system to suit the working layout of the dairy unit.
